So i would sit on the chair in the hospital shower, and soap up the top of my belly, then take the removable shower head and let the water and soap run down me, then finish with a pat dry. It helps to wash dirt away.
How soon after a c section can you have a bath. You should not have a bath for 6 wks….the same “rule” applies as nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks….realize it or not when you sit down in the bath water does go into the vagina. Sometimes it depends on how long your caesarean recovery takes. Hair dryers can harbour bacteria, and is not necessary to dry a wound.
Letting the water run over it is should work. Ask the nurse or midwife about what your hospital offers. It is to keep the incision area dry and prevent bath water from entering the vagina.
In general, two weeks is a good marker for when it's likely safe to submerge your healing wound in bath water, says dr. I think as long as you haven't had any problem with your wound you should be fine xx The incision area needs to be kept relatively dry, and the actual movements required to get into and out of a bathtub can cause undue strain on.
The reason behind this recommendation is because your body is still an open wound. Women who have recently undergone this surgery are typically encouraged to dry the area well after bathing, using a clean, dry towel. I felt like i was told 2 weeks at the hospital but i googled and some people are saying 6 weeks!
Did anyone's ob tell you when it was safe to take a bath after a c section? I'm currently 3 weeks pp and bleeding has stopped. So it must have been 4 days after the cs and i was home.
Though he may allow you to take a shower the day after the surgery, this will reduce the risk of infection. Sit in a hot tub, pool or even bath. After 19 days you must be feeling crap with no proper wash!
Your wound will be covered with a dressing for at least 24 hours; Wait, but what about taking a tub bath? Remember not to scrub the area around the incision.
When you're well enough to go home, you'll need to arrange for someone to give you a lift as you will not be able to drive for a few weeks. In fact i perfectly recall asking dh to bring me a g&t in the bath! It was 30 mins a day where i left him in charge.
A shower makes you feel so much better too. A thin, flexible tube called a catheter will remain in your bladder for at least 12 hours; But a shower is usually recommended post operatively.
Use the shower head to let the water run over the wound, pat dry with clean towel. This can vary between hospitals. Your doctor may suggest not to take a fully submerged bath until three weeks after the surgery (1).
Usually, it takes around a week to ten days nearly after the c section surgery for the stitches to dry up and heal totally and having a bath before the many doctors do not actually advise this thing. If you have a bandage on the wound, your gynaecologist may ask you to wait for a few days. You'll be encouraged to get out of bed and move around as soon as possible;
It made me feel a million times better! I had dissolvable stitches too! For your health’s sake wait for the ok from your doc.
As far as i understood it was good to bathe it as it helps keep it clean. In due time you can have your much deserved bath, but please play it safe, rather than sorry. The removable shower head was so useful for me, i had my fiancé go to cvs and get one for our house.
