Never assume that because the outside of a toy is clean, the inside is as well. Diluted bleach is a safe and inexpensive way to disinfect baby toys. Add 1/2 cup white vinegar per gallon of warm water in a bucket.

Do you need to boil the water? Use your dishwasher to disinfect toys. Rinse well with cold, plain water.

You can use bleach to sterilize bath toys if you dilute it 1c to 1 galon of water.

If you're really not wanting to use bleach at all, you can use vinegar. Set them out on a fluffy, clean, dry towel to let dry; Lay out toys to air dry.

Wash glass toys with soap and water. Let that soak for 10 minutes and dry out before putting toys back in the tub. Force the toys to suck in the solution and squirt it back out several times.

Make a soapy solution for the outer surfaces; To kill bacteria and viruses on the surface, use a disinfecting wipe, an alcohol wipe, or dip a clean cloth in a mix of four teaspoons of chlorine bleach to one quart of water. Cleaning and disinfecting hard plastic toys.
